URGENT tomorrow -Nakba Day Protest Against Tzipi Livni at JNF Event
Nakba Day Protest Against Tzipi Livni at JNF Event
Thursday 15 May 2014
6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Israeli politician, Tzipi Livni, will be speaking at a Jewish National Fund event on the evening of Thursday 15th May in London (location to be confirmed).
Livni was one of the architects of the Israeli attack on Gaza 2008/09 which led to the deaths of 1,417 Palestinians – 313 of them children – and injured 5,303.
15 May is the day – the Nakba – when Palestinians mourn their losses – of loved ones, land, homes and country – which began in 1948 and continues until today.
Put the evening of Thursday 15th May in your diary and please help us protest against war criminal Livni’s visit.

Call to bar G4S and Serco public sector contracts
Serco and G4S were stripped of
responsibility for tagging offenders last year
G4S and Serco should be barred from bidding for public
sector contracts while they are investigated for fraud, campaigners have said.
Prison charity the Howard League for Penal Reform said it
had taken a dossier of accusations against the two outsourcing companies to
police. The firms are subject to a Serious Fraud Office (SFO) probe into contracts for electronically tagging offenders.
A suspension preventing them bidding for work was lifted earlier this year.
They were barred last year after an audit found they had charged taxpayers for tagging criminals who were in jail or did not exist.
Serco won a new government contract after the Cabinet Office ended its ban in February, while G4S has been allowed to bid again since April.
But the Howard League criticised ministers for considering giving the multinationals new contracts.
Chief executive Frances Crook said: "The delivery of justice is one of the most precious public services and we must, as a nation, adhere to the highest standards of probity."
Further allegations
G4S has agreed to repay £109m to the public purse after an
audit found it overcharged for providing electronic prisoner tags.Serco said it would pay back almost £70m.
The SFO is examining allegations that the companies charged for tagging criminals who were dead, offenders who had gone back to jail and others who had fled the UK.
"The dossier compiled by the Howard League is a litany of failure by private companies," Ms Crook added.
The allegations will be sent to the Public Accounts Committee which investigated government outsourcing earlier this year.

Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike petition to sign and share
As the
Palestinian 'administrative detainees' are entering their 3rd week of hunger
strike, please sign and share this petition: http://ymlp.com/xgmmbeyhgmguu
The Israeli occupation regime has transferred some of the hunger strikers to solitary confinement. They are also denying them salt, which is essential for their survival and it is also possible they will force-feed them in the near future.
It is not widely reported that these 200 people are on open-end hunger strike against the unlawful Israeli 'administrative detention', which means the Israeli regime can incarcerate the Palestinians indefinitely without any charges, let alone trial and on secret evidence that may or may not exist.

WF Palestine Solidarity: May dates for you diary
Dear friend,
This is our monthly
email to you with some key dates for your diary.
May Council and MEP elections
In May we have elections
for London Members of European Parliament (MEP) as well as election for our
local Waltham Forest Councillors. Both elections present us with the
opportunities to raise with the candidates the issues of Palestine and enquire
what their position is.
As a part of a national
campaign we have emailed all MEP candidates a questionnaire which you can find,
together with the MEPs’ emails list on our website.
We will soon be writing
to all candidates for Waltham Forest councillors – please check our website for
the text of our letter.
You could use those
letters to do the same. The more of us do that, the more our representatives
are going to be aware of the strength of feeling about the Palestine in Waltham
Forest and of our determination to ensure that our opinions on Palestine are
represented.
